A defiant Tony Blair defended his decision to go to war in Iraq in 2003 following the publication of a devastating report by Sir John Chilcot, which mauled the ex-prime minister’s reputation and said that at the time of the 2003 invasion Saddam Hussein “posed no imminent threat”.
Looking tired, his voice sometimes croaking with emotion, Blair described his decision to join the US attack as “the hardest, most momentous, most agonising decision I took in 10 years as British prime minister”.
He said he felt “deeply and sincerely ... the grief and suffering of those who lost ones they loved in Iraq”.
The problem is its all part of the act the lonely leader taking the decision
to send people to their deaths a leader in a long line of leaders to
struggle with this momentous act leading to
war..................
the fact is he couldnt give a toss about these men and women otherwise
he wouldnt have sanctioned it. He like many another wanted to be a war
leader a winning war leader and go down in history as Churchillian .
Unfortunately this war was an unnecessary war and was brought about
by two flawed mens desire for a place in History well they have a place
in History but not the one they craved. just the one they deserve
